FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. WHAT INFORMATION IS NEEDED?

Not too much to be honest! The criteria for The GFSD Renewable Heat Scheme is that you meet the following criteria...

• Be the Property owner or have the owners written consent. • Minimum floor area 80m2.

• Maximum floor area 150m2. • Have a wet heating system in the property

• Have a broadband connection. Your local rep would have checked the preliminary criteria before contacting you, but from here, we just need to ask a couple of questions and for you to sign the pre-registration document which your local rep will help you fill out.

An allocation fee of £199 is required (which is refunded in full upon installation) at this stage which covers the costs of technical surveys, admin, EPC Certificate (if needed) system design and system allocation etc

2. HOW LONG IS THE TERM?

7 years from the date of installation. Please note the 7 years does Not start when you sign the pre registration form.

3. FROM WHEN IS THE GFSD SCHEME BINDING?

The scheme is binding from the date you sign the pre-registration agreement. You can exercise the right to cancel this agreement without giving any reason during a period of 14 days from the date you sign the pre registration form.

4. WHAT ARE MY KEY OBLIGATIONS?

Granting GFSD and its representatives rights to access, install, monitor and maintain the Air Source Heat Pump system in your property for 7 years. Giving GFSD access to an internet connection so it can monitor the System. Paying the £20 standing charge per month to cover the cost of heating and hot water for the duration of the contract.

It is like paying your current utility provider for the fuel you consume, but at a cheaper rate and you do not have to worry about price hikes for the next 7 years as you are protected under our scheme and after the 7 years you don't even need to pay the standing charge so further savings can be enjoyed.

5. DO I OWN THE HEATING SYSTEM?

No, GFSD owns the ASHP System for the duration of the contract (7 years) in which during this period, you agree not to move or interfere with the system. After 7 years we hand over ownership to you. You will then benefit from the system that has a life span of 20 years.

6. WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO BE ELIGIBLE?

You must be the owner of the property or get the owners consent for the property. Your property must be Detached, Semi-detached or a terraced house and meet the criteria on question 1 of this document.

7. HOW MUCH MAINTENANCE IS REQUIRED?

GFSD owns the system and will be responsible for all maintenance and repair for the System at our cost. Our monitoring system will alert us of the need to carry out any maintenance.

8. HOW DOES AN ASHP WORK?

Heat from the air is absorbed at low temperature into a fluid. This fluid then passes through a compressor where its temperature is increased and transfers its higher temperature heat to the heating and hot water circuits of the house. Please note that these systems can produce heat in temperatures from -15c

9 WILL I BE ASKED TO COMPLETE ANY CHECKS OR PROVIDE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION AS PART OF THE EXECUTION PROCESS?

Yes, we will need to complete a title check at the UK Land Registry (to verify you are the owner of the Property). You will also be asked to provide evidence of identity (National insurance number or drivers license number) as part of the online signing process.

10. HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY PROPERTY WILL BENEFIT FROM AN ASHP?

Nearly all properties can benefit from an ASHP. We check your EPC to see if your property is suitable for our scheme which is available online via the government website (www.epcregister.com) Should your property not have an EPC, we will arrange to have one completed. During the process we will conduct a heating analysis, to determine which size system is appropriate for your property. As we are offering the system to you for free, we make sure that your property is suitable as we receive the government RHI payments.

11. HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST ME

Apart from the initial allocation fee of £199 that is refunded to you on installation, we offer the installed system to you at zero cost. All you pay is £20 standing charge per month, fixed for 7 years. Since we only make money on the RHI government payments, we have a strong incentive to install highly efficient and reliable systems that offer us the return on our investment.

12. DO I RECEIVE THE GOVERNMENT RHI TARIFFS?

No, GFSD remains the owner of the ASHP System and receives the RHI Tariff. However, we pass on the economic benefit of these subsidies to you via your energy bill.

13. DO I PAY FOR THE HEATING AND HOT WATER I USE GENERATED BY THE SYSTEM?

No, You only pay the £20 monthly standing charge and this covers all of your heating and hot water costs.

14. WHAT IS THE DECEMBER CASHBACK PAYMENT?

The December Cashback payment is a little something from us that says thank you for being a part of the scheme. Payments will be paid within the first two weeks of each December (starting in year 2) and will depend on the size of your house. This payment will be from £50-£200 and you will have the option to either have this transferred to your bank account, or opt to give a percentage of this payment to families who are suffering from fuel poverty. Either way, this payment comes just in time for the holiday season.

15. GFSD CLIMATE REWARD PAYMENT

The GFSD Climate Reward is a payment of £100 which you will receive just after your installation. This payment is to show our appreciation for switching away from fossil fuels dependancy and is paid personally by the GFSD.
